In this collection, my research focuses on non-precious gemstones, particularly those with rich and random inclusions like labradorite and rutilated quartz. These inclusions, often considered flaws, showcase a vibrant life force that captivates me, encouraging deeper interest and awareness of the natural beauty within these stones.
My designs highlight these features, promoting a meditative appreciation of nature's intricate details. By incorporating ancient Chinese mortise and tenon structures into jewelry, I rethink traditional setting methods. Using metal tension to fit stones into precise grooves, I complete the setting without additional work.
This approach reinterprets ancient techniques with contemporary aesthetics, fostering a mindful connection to craftsmanship and drawing attention to overlooked beauty.
